MASS BAY VOLLEYBALL
Program History
Mass Bay Community College launched its Men's and Women's Volleyball Teams in the spring of 2001 under the direction of Head Coach Michael Murphy and Assistant Coach Karen Murphy.Dozens of students rushed in to join the teams and compete at the intercollegiate level. Both the men's and women's teams ended the spring 2001 season by qualifying for the playoffs. While only in its first year, Mass Bay is building the foundation for strong volleyball program and actively seeks recruits for the fall 2001 season.
Mass Bay fully supports the launch of this volleyball program. The school has ensured the use of top-line equipment. This includes a JayPro Net system and Tachikara volleyballs. During the season, the school provides uniforms, kneepads, practice T-shirts, and warm-up suits for each student/athlete. For away games, Mass Bay also provides transportation and meal money.
The men's team at Mass Bay is the only intercollegiate men's volleyball team playing at the community college level in Massachusetts. Both the men's and women's teams at Mass Bay offer students the chance to improve their volleyball skills by playing in high-level competition.
The coaching staff at Mass Bay also assists players in moving up to play at 4-year schools in Division 1, 2 and 3.
