MASS BAY VOLLEYBALL
Coaching Staff
Head Coach Michael Murphy and Assistant Coach Karen Murphy lead the Mass Bay Men's and Women's Volleyball Teams each fall and spring season. Together, the Murphys bring more than thirty years of volleyball experience to the court. Both are graduates of Waltham High School and played on their respective varsity volleyball teams. Coach Karen Murphy went on to play for Hesser College in New Hampshire, while Coach Michael Murphy went on to serve as an assistant coach for the Waltham High Boy's team. The two coaches marry this September but will return from their honeymoon in time for the first Fall 2001 games. Last year's men's tri-captain, Tony Wong, will serve as interim assistant coach and run practices during the month of September.
Coaching Philosophy
The coaching staff at Mass Bay follows the guides of the American Volleyball Coaches Association.We emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship and proper volleyball techniques. The staff works with each student/athlete to develop and maximize his or her volleyball skills. The coaches strive to play every player on the team during each competitive match. Most of all, Mass Bay Volleyball teaches each player to have fun while playing the game.
